Blog Algebra Project Update

Once you have included all the bullet points in the blog posting below it is time for you to publish your project. Copy and paste all the work each team member did into one Word document. Make sure you have checked over your group’s work and that there are NO math or spelling mistakes. Only 1 team member should post your group’s project. To post your text on our Math B Blog, follow these steps:

1. Highlight your document text, excluding pictures and tables, and click ‘Copy’
2. Open up an Internet Explorer window and type the following:
www.blogger.com
3. Type in the Username and Password that you set up before
4. If you did this correctly, you should now be looking at the ‘Dashboard’. Click on the green cross that says ‘New Post’.
5. For the ‘Title’, type in the name of the math topic for your group (examples: Solving Linear Equations, Venn Diagram Comparing Rationals and Irrationals, etc.)
6. ‘Paste’ the work you copied before into the body of the ‘Posting’ window
7. Some words and numbers may not look right! Edit them right in that window.
8. If everything looks good, click the ‘Publish Post’ button. You should view the blog and make sure your work appears in the right format.

The project is not due today, so if you are not finished, or have any questions, you can also 'save as draft' instead of publishing.

Happy Blogging and a Happy Halloween!

BLOG ALGEBRA PROJECT

Good morning visionaries!!! Now that you have introduced yourself on the blog with your writing and pics, it is time to put some actual Math B on the blog. Today you will be working in groups of 3, so you should choose two other people you want to work with on the project. Your project will focus on one of the topics we have been studying in Math B so far:

(1) Vocabulary
(2) GPS
(3) FOIL
(4) Factoring - GCF and Perfect Squares
(5) Factoring - BOX Method
(6) Solving Linear Equations
(7) Solving Quadratic Equations (factoring)
(8) Equation of a Line and Graphing

Each group MUST choose a different topic, and the groups that have the correct number of students and tell me their choice first will get priority.

You will be typing up your project in Microsoft Word today. Here is the format you should follow:

(1) Title of project
(2) Names of team members (real names, not nicknames)
(3) Introductory paragraph (5-15 sentences) - introduce your topic, define it, write out steps used for that type of problem, write out real world examples, etc.
(4) Five examples that YOU solve
(5) Ten problems that you DO NOT solve (the class will!)
(6) Conclusion (5-15 sentences) - discuss your blog posting, with references to the examples that you solved

Since there are SIX different parts to the project, each team member should be working on a DIFFERENT part - no one should be sitting at their laptop with nothing to do today.

Save your work to the student server, and we will be back in the lab another day so you can post your work on the blog.

Happy Blogging!

This week the first college I went to was Rutgers University. The university is gigantic. They offer many majors. I also visited Long Island University. It seemed to be a college I am interested in. It isn't too far from home and it seems to be a good school. The part i like the most about Long Island University is that most of the campus has wireless internet access. I wouldn't need a modem or fiddle around with wires or anything like that.
hey every body its ya gurl schenell. i just came back from from L.I.U. i had alot of fun. the major im going to be studying is psycology. well this week i went to Rutgers and today L.I.U aka Post. the campus was very long expecially rutgers. but i notice the colleges have high hopes for students like to apply. i was told just for filling out a application you can get money for that year for room and borde. but it depends on what college you go to. well i think i might go to L.I.U because its not that far from home. my tour guys was named justin josh john and michelle. but baiclly i had learned its going to be hard finding the right college. so i will talk to you later bye :)
Our college trips were very interesting. We went to Rutgers University in New Jersey and to Long Island University.we went around and took a tour. We discovered a lot of things that are part of college and the campus. I liked everything that had to do with the free time and partying. Also with classes to because you get to choose the classes your get and the time you want to go to class. Also they are very short and you only have classes from Monday through Thursday. In order for me to go to college I need to have a good transcript and I need to have grades of 80 and above. I want to have a major in criminal justice. I would like to visit John Jay since I heard it was a good school and it is very close from home. John Jay is my first option.
hmm colleges... Well ill first off like to say i dont want to go to long island university.. i want to go outside of the state. Next some important things i learned were that i need to stay focused and when i go to college i need to get involed in groups and clubs ext. i liked that there were emergency lights easily accessed in the campus and that there were lots of clubs than i could be a part of. in 9th grade i must keep my grades up and do good in school and pass with straigh A's so i can get into the colleges i want to get in. Also i need to be involed in high school because colleges are also looking for that too. A point of the colleges that stood out to me was that they both have Japanese as a language. A major i want to take is Biochemisty. I still havent decided on others but i know im going to take biochemisty. I would like to visit colleges that are far away from the state of new york. I want to go to florida and texas and i would also want to visit colleges in japan and see how there education system is versus to the United states education system. Well this is what i think about the colleges we have visited soo far. I would also like to state that i like Rutgers better than long island university because rutger is bigger, and it farther away from home (its out of state). Well ill catch you guys later.
On Tuesday the whole 9th grade visited a college. The first 1 was Rutgers University in New Brunswick. New jersey.Rutgers didn't really have anything that interesting to me because they really didn't have the things that I wanted to do there. But I can really say that their sports teams look great. Their fields were like 3 blocks long. They said they were a division 1 school. I'm really not looking for a public school like Rutgers. On Friday we visited LongIsland University. This school had me intersted. They offer everything i want.I wanted to major in medicine and science. My minor was going to be fashion design. L.I.U said that you could have a car your freshman year ,so everybody knows I need it because I like to go everywhere not using public transportation. Another thing I liked was that it was aprivate school and quiet. Something I didn't like was the dorms, they were small but quiet also. As a 9th graderI would have to do all my school work and put my studies in. I liked the whole trip idea i hope to visit again.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The colleges that we went to were very interesting. The first college we went to is called Rutgers in New Jersey. I like Rutgers because it has a nice campus. They have a lot of activities. The only thing I dont like about Rutgers is that you cant have a car on campus until junior year. I love all the stores around the college because you can shop everyday when you dont have class. The second college we went to is called Long Island University. I like the dorms and the recreation center. I also like the food there it is very tasteful. I would like to major in law or medicine. I am interested in both. The colleges I would like to visit are John J, and Michigan. The things I need to start doing is being in lots of programs or after school activities.
Hey everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I just got back from L.I.U. The trip was very fun but the college i liked the most was Rutgers. My favorite choice for a college i would go to is L.I.U. I choose this college because rutgers don't have classes for lawyers and L.I.U. does.
On tuesday we went to Rutgers the state university of New Jersey. We learned about the types of programs they have and the ones they don't. Something they don't have is Fashion design. Somehting that they do have is Psychology. We took a bus tour and saw the different sections of the university. The thing I liked is that they had a visual arts and art history class which I would really enjoy.
Today we went to Long Island University (L.I.U).
The college trip was good and have alot of activies. They had alot of expectations and had rules to follow. I really like Long island unversity because they were very open to the alot of things and had alot of possible things to get your master and bachelor degree in short years. I have to bring up the grades to 85-95 average because they want that in order for u to get in the college. Rutgers had the same expectations, but had alot of space in the college, making it hareder to get to class. In Long Island, they have alot of languages I want to learn. They would make arrangements to get me in that class. I know that soon i have alot of posssiblities to go to different countries and know how to speak their language. I want to check out other colleges in other states. I don't know what colleges I check out, but its worth a shot.

Hi everyone in the two college trips that we expereinced this week I think Rutgers is a better university than C.W post. I say this because it has everything i want in my college life such as every language I can think of and Soccer. To be able to attend this University I have to get A's and B's in every class. In this school it is important to have been in some extra curicular activitiesIn Rutgers it is very hard to get around with out a car because it is very spread out. his is why I like Rutgers University!
Hello Math B Visionaries!

I missed ALL of you when I was away on the college trip. I hope you enjoyed your college trips, and I am sure you are looking forward to the spring when you have your first high school OVERNIGHT college trip.

Today in lab you will be reflecting on your college experiences. Your assignment is to write 1 paragraph (5-15 sentences) reflecting on your college trips. Discuss the colleges you visited and what stood out in your mind about them. Address the following questions in your paragraph:

(1) Things you liked about the college and did not like about the college
(2) Things do you need to do NOW as 9th graders to prepare for college
(3) Points that stand out about each particular college
(4) Type of major you are considering in college
(5) Colleges you would like to visit in the future

This project must be completed by Monday morning, 9 AM. Finish it OVER THE WEEKEND if you do not finish in class.

Happy Blogging!

I am David Guity. I am in Math-b this year.I out of all the subjects in school love math. The reason for this is because for me mathematics is easy. Mathematics is a language. You have to learn the language in order to solve mathematic equations. You can't just take any toddler and make it do algebra. To me mathematics is a language understood.
